B.Sc Nautical Science
This course is consists of 06 Semesters and the duration of the every semester is 06 months. The candidates are to complete first 02 semester in the institute as Pre Sea course. On completion of successful training, the govt. of India issues them CDC. This document is important and mandatory to board a ship. The institute provides all other travelling documents and course certificates to the students to proceed for On board to complete the remaining 03 Semesters. These students normally receives a stipends during the on board training periods. Candidates also complete their 3rd, 4th and 5th Semester as DLP to obtain their BSc degree.
Candidate should have passed in HSC (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60%.
Candidate possessing B.Sc. Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the year, with an average of not less than 60% of marks in the final year.
Students appearing in 12th class can also appear, however they have to produce the mark sheet and pass certificates as per the eligibilty standards.
The candidate has to appear and qualify in the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Indian Maritime University (IMU). For further details of CET and IMU, visit http://www.imu.edu.in/.
Age Limit – Maximum 25 years of age as on 1st of January or 1st of August.
Physical Standards – Medically fit as per the standards set by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000.
Eyesight – Candidates have to Qualify a full eyesight test conducted by the Mercantile Marine Department before being finally selected for the course. They should have 6/6 in each eye without visual aids and should be free from colour blindness.
